                                                          COMPARATIVES

The Comparative: Using -er and more

• we add -er to an adjective: Jane is older than Jack.
• we use more in front of an adjective: This watch is more expensive than that one.

Adjectives with one syllable
old → older
cheap → cheaper
large → larger

Adjectives that end in -y
pretty → prettier
funny → funnier

Adjectives with two or more syllables
famous → more famous
important → more important
interesting → more interesting

Irregular comparative adjectives
good → better
bad → worse
far → farther/further
